How does your child learn with us?
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, a framework developed by early years experts and parents to support playgroups and all those providing care for children from birth – 5.
The framework sets out welfare standards that we must meet to ensure your child is safe and their welfare is our priority during their time with us. In addition it focuses on 7 areas of learning, a summary of which is outlined below, but it is important to note that the underlying principle to the framework, and to the care and service which we provide at Milton mount, is FUN. Children learn best through play and experience, so your child’s keyworker will ensure that your child has the tools around them to continue their journey in a happy, safe and fulfilling environment without pressure or undue restriction on their own creativity.
The 7 areas of learning
The below lists the areas of learning, and an example of how we use play to meet your child’s goals. Every child is unique, and will develop at their own pace. We support and nurture this individuality by adapting play in response to their needs.
• Communication and language:
• Physical development:
• Personal, social and emotional development
• Literacy:
• Mathematics
• Understanding the world
• Expressive arts and design

How you can help your children
All the little things you do with your child – like every day conversations, make-believe play and reading together make a big difference to their development.
The ‘Hungry Little Minds’ campaign provides lots of ideas that can help boost your child’s learning. You can slot them into your routine and your children with love them, for example:
